About 100 named and costumed pink plastic yard flamingos are made into works of art by professional and amateur artists. Along with these flashy, feathery, fabulous and fancy flamingos will be a flock of 200 feathers-only ones for visitor photo opportunities.
The community pops concert, under the direction of Maestro John Giordano, will feature a wide variety of pop classics and movie favorites including familiar selections by John Williams, Disney tunes and patriotic favorites.
Gardens created with white, pink, lavender or yellow silvery, gray variegated foliage seem to glow in the light of the full moon. Moonlight in the Gardens is not a new concept. Centuries ago in China, having meditation in moonlight in the gardens was quite common. Only since the Nineteenth century have moonlight gardens become popular in our country.
The Corpus Christi Botanical Gardens & Nature Center is hosting 100 or so 'costumed' flamingos with names including - Lady Mermingo, Flamingo in Drag-on, The Flockettes, Flamingo en Plumage, Red River Rivalry, Hula Lula, Fred & Ethel, Can-Can Flamingo, ‘O Sol Amingo and Flamingo-dactyl. The fun begins Sunday, July1 through August 15 on the South Texas Botanical Gardens & Nature Center grounds at 8545 S. Staples Street.
