1. Stark Museum of Art – The Stark family was always interested in art. H.J. Lutcher Stark is primarily responsible for the collection that is now the foundation of this museum, having picked up pieces in their travels, which represent a wide swath of early 20th century American art and artists. This museum is a great opportunity to take a look at some of the best pieces of art from this time period, ranging from sketches to paintings to sculpture to glass work.
2. The W.H. Stark House – This house is a unique time capsule of the early 20th century. With much of the same furnishings, decorations, and lighting, this home is a beautiful reminder of the extravagant architecture that was common at the time. It is also a time capsule for the Stark family and their collections, with a variety of extremely rare pieces on display in the home, including the desk mask of Napoleon. Taking some time to explore this home and the grounds will be fun for children and adults who are interested in history and architecture.
3. Shangri La Gardens – One of the most beautiful places in Orange, Texas, the Shangri La Gardens are maintained by the Stark Foundation. The botanical gardens are home to hundreds of different species of plants and also host a number of beautiful sculptures that make exploring these gardens fun and exciting. There is even a heronry, where guests can spy on nesting birds.
4. The Lutcher Theater – This theater has always been committed to providing professional entertainment for Orange, Texas. With more than 1,400 seats, it is the largest theater in the area and attracts shows from all over the country and all over the world.
