Katie and Lorie of Round and Round describe Festival Hill, venue location of this event as follows:
"The Round Top Festival Institute, aka Festival Hill, is known all over the globe for its summer music conservatory and concert series featuring some of the world's most talented musicians.
The musical immersion experience, the results of which has wowed audiences since the 1970s, is the brainchild of James "Jimmy" Dick, a former Kansas small town boy who secured his reputation as an acclaimed pianist by winning several of the world's most prestigious competitions in the late 1960s while a University of Texas graduate student. (For the record, his ability to establish a music conservatory and a beautiful campus that is a model of architectural restoration and innovation in a town of 90 made our attempt to establish a media empire almost make sense.)."
