This year's Galveston Island Beach Revue shines its spotlight on vintage music and classic fun, explains Will Wright, Galveston Island Beach Revue promoter. We've got a fantastic lineup of music, cars, and more all leading up to the Bathing Beauties contest.
The Galveston Island Beach Revue is the kick-off for the tourist seasons each year. This year 40 contestant beauties will vie for cash and prizes, and echo the good 'ole days.
Vintage Music takes center stage with two period-inspired bands performing throughout the weekend with:
- Dandy Wellington & His Band from New York City
- Friday at Galvez Bar & Grill, 6:30 to 8:15 p.m.
- Saturday at the Revue, 4:00 to 4:45 p.m. and 7:00 to 7:30 p.m.
- Matt Tolentino Band, Dallas
- Saturday at the Revue, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
- Sunday, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Classic Fun starts Friday evening of Revue Prevue at Galveston's iconic Queen of the Gulf, Hotel Galvez. Hear live music from Dandy Wellington & His Band, craft beer and introduction to the 2017 Bathing Beauty contestants. The Bathing Beauties Contest is the main event of this weekend. Vintage attire is encouraged. The Galveston Island Beach Hot Rod + Classic Car and Vintage Trailer show will be on Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Beach Central, 2102 Seawall Boulevard. To wrap up the weekend, a special vintage baseball game will be played between two of Texas' most seasoned unorganized league teams: the Gulf Coast Sugar and Texas Playboys, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Hooper Field, 3110 83rd Street.
