April 14 & 15, 2018
This cookoff is the oldest chili cookoff in the world and is held under the auspices of the Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI). Chili cooks from all across the country, including past and current Terlinqua International Chili Champions will join many other “chiliheads” (as they affectionately call themselves) to vie for the top honors in chili and showmanship. Competition will include CASI Chili, Ron Charlton Memorial Junior Chili Championship, “CASA FIESTA” Jackpot Beans, and CASI Showmanship. There will be entertainment and great food served up both days.
Charities benefiting this year are Santa Maria Hostel for Female Veterans, and Hall John & Judy Winberly Memorial Scholarship Fund. Over the past 46 years thousands of dollars have been raised and donated to these and other organizations through the Houston Pod’s efforts.
So bring the whole family and join all the fun, food and festivities. It’s a great way to have a great time and also help support a great cause. Besides the Chili Cookoff, there will be the usual family fun of Traders Village. Enjoy bargains galore with over 1,500 dealers, rides for kids, state fair foods, and more! Admission is free and parking is only $4.00 per car. Traders Village, 7979 N. Eldridge Road, 3/10 south of Hwy. 290.
